About Us
Founded in 1986, D-DENT—Dentists for the Disabled and Elderly in Need of Treatment, Inc.—is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is our mission to help improve the oral health of Oklahomans in need by providing preventative dental education and free comprehensive dental care through our state-wide network of volunteer dental professionals. Dentistry is often, and incorrectly, marketed as an elective and cosmetic choice. Tooth loss and dental disease isn't "just a part of aging," it can be prevented with education and accessible dental care.
D-DENT’s Restorative Dental Care Program has earned many awards and moments of recognition. Among these, we are a four-time recipient of the Blue Cross Blue Shield 'Champions of Health' awards, with their highest honor known as the ‘Rodney L. Huey Memorial' award received in 2019. In addition, we have also received the distinguished 'Oklahoma Nonprofit Excellence' award from the Anne and Harry Zarrow Foundation & the Herman Kaiser Foundation. However, seeing the healthy smile of a person in need is the greatest reward.
With a network of more than 500 volunteer dentists, hygienists, dental assistants and dental laboratories, D-DENT continues to positively impact the overall health of many Oklahomans with no access to dental care.
